I want to dance tonight—no. No boys tonight, I just want to go out and express myself… Through the art of dance.

"Ok. You fuck me, then snub me. You love me, you hate me. You show me a sensitive side, then you turn into a total asshole. Is this a pretty accurate description of our relationship."

I had a dream that you were with me and it wasnt my fault
you rolled me over flipped me over, like a somersault
and that doesent happen to me
i've never been here before
you rolled me over flipped me over, like a somersault
and that doesent happen to me
i've never been here before
I saw forever in my never and i stood outside her heaven
"We can spend our lives letting the world tell us who we are. Sane or insane. Saints or sex addicts. Heroes or victims. Letting history tell us how good or bad we are. Letting our past decide our future. Or we can decide for ourselves. And maybe it's our job to invent something better."

“We are well advised to keep on nodding terms with the people we used to be, whether we find them attractive company or not. Otherwise they turn up unannounced and surprise us, come hammering on the mind's door at 4am of a bad night and demand to know who deserted them, who betrayed them, who is going to make amends. We forget all too soon the things we thought we could never forget.”

"Every now and then, I'll run into someone who claims not to like chocolate, and while we live in a country where everyone has the right to eat what they want, I want to say for the record that I don't trust these people, that I think something is wrong with them, and that they're probably - and this must be said - total duds in bed."

Reading Responses
My favorite section in Writing Poetry was the chapter that focused on "subject"-- Not just because we watched Atoine Dodson in class, but because it gave me a greater perspective on what one could write about. Usually, when I sit down to write, I try to focus on writing about a specific subject. I learned in this chapter, however, that you do no have to do so.
I aslo enjoyed the poem selections by Yusef Komunyakaa in Word of Mouth. My favorite poem is entitled "Facing It". This poem gives detail by detail description of the man standing in front of the Vietnam Wall. And though readers most likely believe the poem is about the man finding his name and coping with it... It is mainly about the man's struggle to actually deal with this situation, which adverts the idea from the larger picture. This poem is definately one of my favorite poems by Komunyakaa.
RANDOM IMPULSE
I hope to develop this exerpt a little further into a non-fiction piece...
When everything I have constructed in life tumbles to the ground, I realize that mounds of trash are gathered at my feet. What was once tall and stood strong now falls in pieces before my eyes—here lies the grains of my life.
Jerked from reality, I am real.
